2024 Lexus ES 300h
44 mpg combined
The Lexus ES Hybrid is a sleek luxury midsize sedan. Despite its sporty looks, the ES is built more for comfort than for speed. This Lexus is a great value for a luxury car, though, and is loaded with user-friendly technology features and upscale materials.
The front-wheel drive Lexus ES 300h is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine combined with a lithium-ion battery pack and two electric motors.
2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid
50 mpg combined
Toyota’s Corolla compact car has almost always been a smart pick, but it’s even better in hybrid form. It presents an excellent value thanks to its fantastic fuel economy ratings and generous list of user-friendly tech features. It’s kind of dull to drive, but at least it doesn’t pretend otherwise.
The Corolla Hybrid uses a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack to generate a combined 138 horsepower. Unlike some hybrid sedans, it’s available with all-wheel drive, although you’ll need to stick with the base front-wheel drive to achieve its top 50 mpg combined rating.
